For more than 30 years, designers and acousticians from Harman Kardon have been working with BMW M with the aim of filling the interior of every model with a detailed, balanced sound – sound that will enthral the car’s occupants. And thanks to Logic 7 from Harman Kardon it doesn’t matter where you sit. The music is converted in such a way that the full sound reaches every corner – including the back seats.

BOWERS & WILKINS DIAMOND SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM.

The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System is the first of its kind: An audio system with highly developed acoustics technologies, like the Diamond Dome tweeters that had never been seen in a car before. From the outset, the team of sound engineers and designers had as their goal the development of an audio system which would harmonize with the luxurious interior design of BMW and BMW M automobiles. The result is superb: An audio experience that gives the listener the impression they are actually sitting in the studio with the artists.

Why Diamond? Diamond is by far the toughest material you can work with. In the form of thin domes, it remains rigid for perfect recreations of high frequencies with minimal distortion.

Developed under lab conditions, the diamond dome tweeters are fitted in the top range studio speakers from Bowers & Wilkins – and in BMW 5, 6, 7, 8, X5, X6 ,X7, i5 i7, iX as well as M models M5, M6, M8, X5 M, X6 M and XM. The Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System is fitted as standard in BMW 7 Series automobiles.

Inspired by Nautilus: spiralling diffusion channels for perfect sound.

A milestone in the high-performance field: Nautilus speakers from Bowers & Wilkins are international design icons and to this day ground-breaking for the audio industry. Inspired by this innovation, the spiralling diffusion channels soak up the reflected sound from the back of each tweeter, thereby the resonance is kept to a minimum – for a powerful sound experience in your BMW M.

Official data on power consumption and electric range were determined in accordance with the mandatory measurement procedure and comply with Regulation (EU) 715/2007 valid at the time of type approval. In case of a range, figures in the NEDC take into account differences in the selected wheel and tire size; figures in the WLTP take into account any optional equipment. WLTP values are used for assessing taxes and other vehicle-related charges that are (also) based on CO2 emissions, as well as for the purposes of vehicle-specific subsidies, if applicable. Where applicable, the NEDC values listed were calculated based on the new WLTP measurement procedure and then converted back to the NEDC measurement procedure for comparability reasons. For newly type-tested vehicles since 01.01.2021, the official data no longer exist according to NEDC, but only according to WLTP.
