A sculpture on wheels, the BMW Concept XM unites power and luxury beyond norms and conventions. The design model anticipates the most powerful series automobiles ever made by BMW M and celebrated its world premiere in the ultra-suitable setting of Art Basel Miami Beach 2021. To mark the company’s 50th anniversary, BMW M is putting its first stand-alone model on the road since the legendary BMW M1.
HIP-HOP MEETS ART, ART MEETS M AUTOMOBILES.
At the world premiere, 400 VIPs from art, culture and social media experienced the concept car’s debut and a special musical performance by the GRAMMY Award-winning hip-hop artist NAS.
While NAS performed, the fog inside a cube dissipated, revealing first just the headlights, then gradually more and more of the exterior of the BMW Concept XM. A presentation to match the expressive character of the new vehicle.
Along with the new BMW Concept XM, a work of art also celebrated its premiere: Kennedy Yanko’s sculpture Intrinsic Sage embodies the energy that is unleashed when one follows one’s creative instincts.
Intuition also links art and the BMW Concept XM. This can be seen for example from the exterior with its expressive silhouette or the strikingly modelled surfaces and extravagant lines, which together form a sculptural stylistic idiom all their own.
First seen at Art Basel: The front design of the BMW Concept XM. A new design vocabulary for BMW’s future luxury class. The 400 VIP guests also witnessed the hugely progressive stand-alone interpretation of the BMW X model design, along with a completely new form of luxury and sense of space in the vehicle’s interior.
With exclusive materials and the luxurious M Lounge in the back, the interior reflects the novel character of the BMW Concept XM. One highlight is the three-dimensionally illuminated roof liner, which lends the generous back seat area a certain extravagance. With the BMW Concept XM, BMW M presents a maximally new vehicle concept for people with an expressive lifestyle, who value luxury coupled with sustainability and M High Performance.
The production vehicle, the BMW XM, will be produced from the end of 2022 at the BMW Group Spartanburg works in the USA, the most important market for the new high-performance model.
