5 POWERFUL FACTS:
- High-Performance M TwinPower Turbo V8 petrol engine
- Max. output 460 kW (625 hp)
- From 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds
- Adaptive M specific suspension with Active M differential
- Striking new front design
SPORTING DOMINANCE.
Slim headlights, a newly designed BMW kidney grille and the large air intakes add further impact to the M typical, race-inspired appearance.
OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE. IMPRESSIVE EFFICIENCY.
The newly developed M TwinPower Turbo V8 of the BMW X6 M Competition is a high-performance engine that impresses with efficient power delivery and a sporty sound. In addition to the two turbochargers with indirect charge air cooling located between the cylinder banks, the 4.4 litre power unit also includes High Precision Injection direct petrol injection, VALVETRONIC variable valve timing and double VANOS continuously variable camshaft control.
It generates maximum output of 460 kW (625 hp) at 6,000 rpm. This allows the BMW X6 M Competition to sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. 200 km/h is reached after 13.6 seconds. For the first time, the high-performance Sports Activity Coupé also features 48-volt technology and thus a supporting electric motor in the drivetrain – for even more spontaneous power delivery with maximum efficiency. Visually, the latest generation of drive unit is identifiable by a new engine cover with red graphic elements and a coloured M logo. As an option, the engine cover is also available in carbon-fibre.
750 Nm of torque is developed by the BMW X5 M Competition’s M TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine.
TECHNICAL DETAILS.
Adaptive M suspension Professional.
Standard specification for the new BMW X5 M Competition includes the adaptive M suspension Professional. This combines electronically controlled dampers and active roll stabilisation, two systems that enable the models to handle with even greater composure on uneven roads or in extremely dynamic situations.
M Compound brakes.
Thanks to its special material mix, the standard-fitted M Compound brakes achieve excellent deceleration values and very high stability – while reducing weight at the same time. The system comprises six-piston, fixed-calliper brakes with perforated discs measuring 395 millimetres in diameter at the front and single-piston, floating calliper units with 380-millimetre discs at the rear. The callipers can optionally be painted in Red high-gloss or Black high-gloss as an alternative to the standard Blue finish.
8-speed M Steptronic Sport transmission with Drivelogic.
The standard 8-speed M Steptronic Sport transmission with Drivelogic offers numerous shifting options: from extremely dynamic to very comfortable and smooth. Or particularly fuel-saving. You either choose automatic mode or shift gears manually – using the gear lever or the shift paddles on the steering wheel.
BMW M xDrive.
BMW M xDrive with Active M differential guarantees maximum traction and driving dynamics for everyday driving, as well as at the racetrack. It uses an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the transfer case to ensure fully variable and super-smooth distribution of the engine’s power between the front and rear wheels. The M specific technology, standard-fitted in the BMW X5 M Competition, combines the typical agility of a rear-wheel drive with the control of an all-wheel drive.
M Servotronic.
The standard-fitted M Servotronic adapts steering effort optimally to the speed. The enthralling performance experience on offer in the new BMW X5 M Competition is also partly down to this steering and its excellent directional accuracy and clear feedback. It combines speed-sensitive power assistance and a variable steering ratio, enabling it to deliver exactly the right amount of steering torque for every situation.
