New BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car at fan event in Bangkok. MotoGP™ set the stage for the start of the 2025 season with a spectacular fan event. For the first time, all teams and riders gathered in the Thai capital of Bangkok to meet with their fans. At the heart of it all: the new BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car, which will be spearheading the safety car fleet in the premier class of motorbike racing in 2025 together with the BMW M5 MotoGP™ Safety Car.

KICK-OFF IN BANGKOK.

The MotoGP™ 2025 kick-off took place at a location that provided the perfect stage for the spectacular event. ‘One Bangkok’ is the Thai capital's ultimate new landmark, a modern state-of-the-art neighbourhood, commercial hotspot and elegant residential area all in one with plenty of culture, places of interest and lifestyle added to the mix. The fan event began with a parade of all MotoGP™ riders to Central Square in One Bangkok, led by the BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car. A spectacular stage show followed in Central Square, broadcast live around the world.

2025 marks the 27th season for BMW M as Official Car of MotoGP™ partner. Since 1999, M GmbH has provided the fleet of safety and medical cars along with safety bikes as part of this partnership. The latest addition is based on the BMW M5 Touring and completes the ensemble, which also includes the BMW M5 MotoGP™ Safety Car based on the  BMW M5 sedan. Together, the high-performance models will be spearheading the safety car fleet in the premier class of motorcycle racing. The touring and sedan models boast performance values that make the BMW M5 the perfect choice for use as a safety car on racetracks. Its M hybrid drive, consisting of a 4.4-litre V8 engine and an electric motor, generates a maximum output of 535 kW (727 hp) and a maximum torque of 1,000 Newton metres. All the necessary modifications were made to the BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car for its use on the racetrack, including numerous carbon, aramid and titanium elements from the BMW M5 M Performance Parts programme.

BMW M Hybrid V8, BMW M Motorsport’s competing race car in the FIA World Endurance Championship and in the IMSA series in North America, acted as inspiration for the design of the BMW M5 MotoGP™ Safety Cars’ ‘second skin. The livery reflects BMW M's commitment to hybrid technology.

The new BMW M5 Touring MotoGP™ Safety Car will be on display until the start of the 2025 MotoGP™ season in Bangkok, before making its debut on the racetrack on the first race weekend from 28 February to 2 March.
