The BMW M2 Competition sets two world records.

Two fascinating stunts prove the outstanding performance of the compact high-performance model.

20 August 2018

The task: to break two records that have been set by human beings – and absolute experts in their field at that – in a BMW M. Challenge accepted! BMW M opted to take on this ambitious project with the BMW M2 Competition performing two unique stunts. The 410-hp performance  coupé’s outstanding driving dynamics and driving precision would be of extraordinary importance here. The first tests for the BMW M2 Competition record stunts took place in early 2018 near Bedford in Great Britain. Then, a few weeks later the action would transfer to Cape Town in South Africa, where it was to be filmed for posterity.

Human records are a great achievement of mankind, but what about attempting those with a car?
Oisin Tymon, Director.

4 POWERFUL STUNT FACTS:

  • Two stunts, each completed within 60 seconds.
  • High-energy laser on the front apron.
  • Precision blade in the rear.
  • Challenge to beat: 63 balloons and 87 straw mats.

#STUNT 1 - LASER CHALLENGE.

The driver's an expert in his field, but he needs the car to respond precisely to every piece of feedback he's giving it.

#STUNT 2 – CUTTING EDGE CHALLENGE.

BREAKING RECORDS – BEHIND THE SCENES.

POWERFUL DUO.

Connoisseurs of BMW M must have noticed it: for each stunt, two vehicles were brought to the start: a brand new BMW M2 Competition (at the time of the stunts from the so-called pre-series and thus only available worldwide in very few examples) and a second M2, which already corresponded technically to the M2 Competition, but its exterior differs due to its rims and headlights. This vehicle was equipped with the features required for the records – in this case a high-energy laser and a precision blade at the rear of the vehicle.
